One of the more understated features is the Auto Level Mode. From here, you can mess with things like adding compression to your voice, adjust your EQ, and add a limiter. The MV7 takes advantage of the ShurePlus Motiv software, which lets you tweak and fine-tune your sound with relative ease. You will notice some pretty loud plosives, so it might be best to invest in a shield to block your breath from the mic, or not having the mic directly in front of you when recording.

The mic itself does an excellent job of isolating my voice while ignoring the loud hums of my desktop PC, air conditioner, and any other ambient nonsense I have going on in the background. It's hands-down one of the best microphones I've used for recording. While it is more expensive than your average premium mic, its versatility completely justifies the cost. Shure's first hybrid XLR/USB microphone manages to provide pro-grade sound with minimal set-up and expertise. The Shure MV7 is a great-sounding XLR/USB hybrid microphone that'll give veteran podcasters and streamers a serious upgrade.

It gives you the best of both worlds by providing the adaptability of XLR (especially if you use professional audio interfaces) and the versatility of Type-B Micro inputs for recording on the go with laptops and mobile devices.

The USB Type-B Micro/XLR connection will be the big draw for a lot of folks. Shure has been providing pro-grade microphones for an age, and the MV7 Podcast microphone is its attempt to bring its high-end sound to content creators. Chances are, you've seen some of your favorite musicians rock a Shure microphone on stage or in the studio. The dual layer windscreen & foam cap windscreen are decent. You don't really need to be much of a sound person to know Shure makes killer audio gear. For a traditional mount, it holds the Blue Yeti mic nicely. The drawback to this is that it increases the likelihood the mic will be less stable, but that is mostly controlled by a thumb screw at the pin hinge.ĭespite my unorthodox mounting option, this is definitely a good quality and inexpensive mounting arm. If they lengthened the mounting "pin" (I guess is what I would call it) by another inch or two, it would clear perfectly. Also, when you mount your Yeti, be cautious of the USB cable and plug while adjusting the mic on the stand. It would be completely perfect if they added a thumb screw to the hinge closest to the desk mount because then I would have gotten the ability to tighten it for any conceivable mounting option. The weight of the mic in my admittedly unusual mounting position caused the arm to droop so I could only swing it aside, not up and down. I didn't give it 5 stars because I mounted the arm to a vertical surface instead of a horizontal (desk) surface, hoping to mount it so it could be swung up and down as needed and my desk hutch offered me a shelf divider that I could fit the arm into. The arm is basically otherwise identical to a drafter's lamp swing arm. The offset of the springs at the hinges does give the arm additional strength over competitors.

Overall an excellent product! Mounts easily, includes additional threads to mount the Yeti, plus plumbers tape.
